At Benchmark, sustainability is part of how we think and work every day. From responsible material sourcing to energy-efficient manufacturing, we are continually looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact and operate responsibly across all of our sites.
Reducing Waste and Improving Efficiency
We are working towards a clear goal of zero waste to landfill by the end of 2025. Across our sites, dedicated recycling points ensure materials such as wood, metal and plastic are properly separated and repurposed. Wherever possible, offcuts are reused in production or recycled through trusted partners.
Our investment in modern machinery has further reduced waste, allowing us to manufacture with greater precision and use less energy in the process. You can learn more about our equipment and processes on our Manufacture page.
Smarter Use of Resources
To make better use of waste materials, we’ve installed woodburners that convert timber waste into heat for three of our units, reducing our reliance on conventional heating. It’s one of several practical changes that have made a real difference across our business.
Our commitment to responsible sourcing also includes using FSC-certified timber, ensuring that the wood we use in production comes from responsibly managed forests.
Recognised Commitment
In recognition of our progress and ongoing efforts, Benchmark has been awarded Bronze status from EcoVadis (top 35%) for our sustainability rating. This independent assessment reflects the work of our teams to integrate responsible practices across every stage of production.
Greener Transport and Everyday Habits
We continue to look beyond our factory floor to reduce our carbon footprint. Our transport fleet now includes two electric vans, supported by onsite charging points, helping to cut emissions from local deliveries and service visits.
Within our offices and workshops, staff are encouraged to recycle, minimise energy use and suggest new ways we can continue to improve.
Built to Last
The displays and fixtures we create are designed for long-term use and, wherever possible, for reuse or adaptation. By focusing on quality and longevity rather than disposability, we help reduce the environmental impact of our products once they leave our factory.
